Weather Policy

Announcements for closings or delays of MCBDDS programs and facilities will begin as early as possible, and will be shared via the Board's website and via local television stations and their radio affiliates (see links below).  Interested parties may also sign up for email and text alerts to be sent directly to their devices by visiting http://www.mcbdds.org/signup.

During inclement weather, the decision to remain home is up to individuals and their parents/guardians.  If a person chooses to stay home and they receive MCBDDS Transportation Services, please contact the Transportation Office at 937-837-9222 to cancel their daily bus ride.

Television Stations

Announcements concerning closings or delays of MCBDDS programs and facilities will be made over local radio and television stations. Separate announcements will be made for the two shifts our program operates.

You may also sign up for email or text from our website, or text alerts to your wireless device at the television station you watch most.

Please note: Delay and closing announcements will be made for Adult Services and Transportation morning and afternoon shifts separately.



First Shift Programs


Liberty Center:  7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kuntz Center:    7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Jergens Center: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Calumet Center: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Second Shift Programs


Kuntz Center:  2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Opening/Closing Policies


Plan A - All Facilities Open - NO Buses


   
  • All facilities are open but no board transportation and no food service provided.
  • Bus drivers and bus aides should not report to work.
  • Clerical, maintenance, mechanics, courier, dispatcher, administrative staff, PACE staff and Adult Services staff are expected to report to work as close to regularly scheduled times as road conditions permit. Refer to Calamity Day Procedure VII .22.

Plan B - All Facilities Closed


 
  • All board programs and facilities closed.
  • NO board staff or consumers are to report.

Delay Policies: One hour or two hour*



One Hour Delay


  • Routes will operate one hour later than regular pick up times.
  • Programs will dismiss at regular time.

Two Hour Delay


  • Routes will operate two hours later than regular pick up times.
  • Programs will dismiss at regular time.

*Bus drivers and bus aides will report to work one/two hours later than regular sign-in time. All other staff will be expected to report to work as close to regular sign in time as road conditions permit.

Early Dismissal Policy



  • Transportation notifies facility managers/designee.
  • Building staff will follow procedures for parent/provider notification prior to consumer dismissal.
  • The Superintendent will make a separate determination for staff dismissal.
