Overview

The Transportation Department serves as a provider of transportation services for those enrolled in Board programs. The services are provided in a positive atmosphere with assistance that responds to individual needs by promoting safe riding practices, acceptable social behaviors and independence.  

The mission of the Transportation Department is to provide safe, efficient, cost-effective and dependable transportation services.

The Transportation Department provides services for adults in accordance with transportation rules and regulations of the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.

Facility & Equipment
The Board owned fleet consists of over 48 lift-equipped buses and 45 other vehicles necessary to provide quality services. We have an on-site vehicle maintenance department, vehicle storage area, and fueling station. All buses must pass an extensive annual inspection by the Ohio State Patrol and conform to the Ohio School Bus Minimum Construction Standards.

The Transportation Department is responsible for the purchase of new vehicles as needed, maintenance of the fleet, training of drivers and bus aides all within the Boards financial plan.

Bus Routes
Routes travel over 5,200 miles per day totaling approximately 1,248,000 miles per year. We operate 22 dual routes and 13 single routes to 4 locations with multiple bell times. Service is door-to-door with right side of street pick-up/discharge only.

Hours of Operation
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Hours of operation are adjusted if there are no programs in operation.

Accomplishments & Awards
The Montgomery County Board of DDS Transportation Department capped off an already impressive list of recognitions with the 27th consecutive year of Ohio Highway Patrol safety inspection. One hundred percent of the buses presented were decaled during the 1st round of the inspection process.
