Mission and Services

Mission
The mission of the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services' (MCBDDS) Early Intervention program is to help infants and toddlers who are at established risk for their development reach their potential.

Early Intervention Services
MCBDDS Early Intervention Services are provided by a Primary Service Provider (PSP) using a proven adult coaching approach. Coaching is a supportive process where observation and feedback are used to guide families and caregivers in ways to adjust interactions with the child to enhance their development.

The Primary Service Provider coaches based upon functional strategies that can easily be incorporated into the child's daily routine, with the goal of achieving outcomes identified on the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Your Family's Team
A Primary Service Provider will be identified in the IFSP process to provide consistency in programming and communication throughout your time in early intervention.  The PSP will receive support from the full team during regularly-scheduled meetings that families are encouraged to participate in as well.  All teams consist of Developmental Specialists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, a Pediatric Nurse, and Early Intervention Service Coordinators.

Cost
There is NO out of pocket cost to families for Early Intervention services. The MCBDDS Early Intervention Program is funded through local, state and federal tax dollars. Local dollars are provided through the Montgomery County Human Services Levy.

Services methods available include virtual and in person, and are offered in the natural settings of infants and toddlers, such as home, childcare settings, and community centers to the maximum extent appropriate per federal and state guidelines.
