Each year, the Montgomery and Greene County Boards of DD collaborate to host a spring Self-Advocacy Conference, and this year it's going virtual! Tune in every Thursday in April at 4 p.m. via Zoom for an amazing slate of presenters who will inspire people with developmental disabilities to speak up for themselves and help take charge of their lives.
Speakers include:
April 1 - What is a Self-Advocate? - SARTAC (Self Advocacy Resource and Technical Assistance Center); welcome given by Jeff Davis, Director DODD
April 8 - Positivity - Optimist International members Jennifer Kendo & Sue Armstrong; welcome given by Nancy Banks, former MCBDDS Superintendent
April 15 - Community Safety - Beavercreek Police Officer Sgt. Phil Wesseler; welcome given by John LaRock, Greene County BDDS Superintendent
April 22 - Housing & Your Rights - John Zimmerman, Vice President, Miami Valley Fair Housing; welcome given by Kamarr Gage, MCBDDS Assistant Superintendent
April 29 - Transportation - Serena Anderson, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission; welcome given by Dr. Pamela Combs, MCBDDS Superintendent
Sessions will run from 4 to 5 p.m. and will be interactive.
