The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) recently recognized the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services (MCBDDS) with a three-year accreditation award—the highest award available to Ohio’s 88 county board agencies.
Representatives of DODD visited MCBDDS in January and met with people served, their families, and provider agency representatives, as well as MCBDDS administrators and staff, to evaluate the effectiveness of the Board’s planning, policies, practices and services. They reviewed a sampling of casework files associated with those served and interviewed them and many others in an effort to gain a picture of the agency’s operations. Areas evaluated by DODD include:
- Service planning, delivery and documentation
- Self-determination and self-advocacy
- Waiver administration (funding)
- Early intervention
- Safety and protection (also known as Major Unusual Incidents, or MUI)
- Medication administration
- Behavior support
- Personnel
Lauren Fritz, the MCBDDS Medicaid Compliance Manager who coordinates the DODD Accreditation review, said, “Our agency works hard to develop and maintain quality services for the people who rely on it. As champions for people with disabilities, we are committed to ongoing improvement, whether that be through connecting people to critical services, advocating for community integration, or strengthening the person served and the families and providers who support them.”
