The MCBDDS Behavior Support Services Department is offering crisis management training for Direct Support Staff (DSP). This training is for both agency staff and independent providers who provide services in Montgomery County. We will be offering Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training. Physical skills for self-protection and safe holds will also be taught. Class size is limited. A minimum of 12 participants is required per session, if the minimum is not met then registrants will be scheduled for a different date. This is a 2-day training.

  • Recognize how to manage your own consistent, calm behavior to influence a positive outcome in a crisis.
  • Learn strategies to strengthen nonverbal communication.
  • Develop limit-setting strategies when verbally intervening to de-escalate defensive behaviors.
  • Learn safety intervention strategies to maximize safety and minimize harm.
