The Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services will host a Public Hearing Tuesday, October 4 at 11 a.m. to accept feedback on its 2022 Annual Report, 2023 Annual Plan, and 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. This public session will be held via Zoom. Oral feedback may be presented at the Public Hearing. The Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services (MCBDDS) will host a Trunk-or-Treat Night Saturday, October 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Northview Center. This will be a drive-through event that is open to the community. Providers will be on hand to share information about their services. Costumes are encouraged, and all participants are asked to remain in their vehicles and follow COVID-19 safety measures. Food will be offered free of charge, and attendees will receive Halloween goodies.
The School to Adult Life Transition Series (SALT) is a monthly series of webinars designed to help students with developmental disabilities and their families navigate the transition from school to adult life. There are two sets of webinars—one for families, and one for teens themselves—and each provides resources and guidance on topics ranging from future planning and services to employment and independent living.
Family ECHO: Autism is a virtual learning program for families and caregivers of children and young adults with autism. These sessions offer free, real-time access to autism and behavioral experts. In a series of 75-minute online sessions, you will learn to engage and build skills around: Understanding and managing severe and distressing behaviors; Building support for you and your family; Anxiety and autism; ADHD and autism; Transition to adulthood; Making decisions with your care team.

Beyond Vision: A Tactile Art Experience will be more than just touchable paintings. Most museums and art galleries are strictly a hands-off visual experience while Sensory Art encourages a hands-on tactile experience for those who can't see with their eyes. There will be artists working with sound, smell, and even taste; opening up the world of sensory art to the visually impaired in every way possible.
Join us on the 3rd Saturday of the month for a fun, socially distanced party in the parking lot to catch up with your friends! Masks are totally acceptable. There will be music, food, & fun!

OOD is pleased to host a six-part webinar series – The Employers’ Reasonable Accommodation Handbook. The first five sessions of this webinar series will focus on different disability groups. In the final session, you will learn when and why an employer can ask an employee if they need an accommodation, and best practices to support disability inclusion in the workplace. Vandalia Recreation Center
The Vandalia Recreation Center is holding a Halloween Hangout on Thursday, October 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vandalia Recreation Center, 1111 Stonequarry Rd., Dayton, 45414. They will have a food truck, hay rides, music, games and businesses/groups handing out candy to participants.
