This online class focuses on teaching and reinforcing the skills of great Direct Support Professionals, including: orienting all work toward a higher purpose; self-determination of people we support; providing supports in a person-centered manner; relationship building; and empathy. Additionally, this class will address the professionalism of the direct support worker with an overview of the DODD statewide system, essential DODD rules that pertain to direct support, and ethics. An overriding theme throughout this class is a deep appreciation of the direct support worker and an acknowledgment of the important, rewarding and difficult work they do.

Part 3 – Monday, November 8 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. - Bringing it home: Creating environments for people to connect and thrive. Objectives: Participants will 1. Be introduced to guidelines around relationship development in the workplace. 2. Explore how social and entrainment media impacts the development of healthy relationships.

This class meets the annual state requirements to enable DD personnel to utilize a VNS Magnet, administer an Epinephrine Auto-Injector, and use OTC topical medications for cleansing, comfort & protection of intact skin, hair, nails, teeth & oral surfaces.
